early bedtime
Basics
The errant husband can be set an early bedtime by the Wife, this is especially valuable for childish behaviour. This can be any particular time that suits the Wife and can be set for any duration. A few days being a suggested minimum. The advantage being the husband is aware of the punishment element and is also happily out of the way for the Wife. Of course the husband can be sent to the spare room if needed. Early is of course up for debate, but 7.30pm is considered a good time. No reading or equivalent should be allowed in the bedroom as, after all, bedtime means lights out and sleepy time. |
Complexities
Rituals can be set up in any way that suits the Wife.
Reader's suggestions
Suggestions have been made that husband has to wear a certain set of pyjamas or nightie. The more obviously out of the ordinary the better.
Having to cuddle or carry a teddy bear, or other comforter, can be a reinforcement.
The husband can be expected to come and present himself before being, officially, sent to bed at the appointed hour if desired.
Having the husband ask to go to bed, when not really wanting to, is of value.
Maintaining early bedtime rituals, when having visitors or company can be considered harsh but effective.

If there are children in the house one obviously needs to shield them greatly, but sending the husband to bed and letting the children stay up is good.

This may sound particularly harsh but the wife may choose to send her husband to bed early on New Year's Eve or Superbowl Sunday or some other big yearly event regardless of who may be in the house. Even if the husband did nothing wrong to warrant it, it is just a reminder that he knows his place
