behaviour chart
Basics
This is a very powerful way to set goals for your husband, make him accountable, reward good behaviour and shame him for bad behaviour. Draw up a weekly behaviour chart for the husband, with a row for each day of the week and a column for each behaviour that's being assessed. For example, you could have headings for doing the shopping, housework, good manners or whatever. Then put a sticker in each box at the end of the day to denote performance; perhaps a smiley face/ sad face, gold star/ red triangle etc. Note any bad behaviours/ punishments in red marker pen eg "Late home- 6.00 bedtime for rest of week". Normally, the chart will be displayed somewhere discreet, but if the husband misbehaves, it will be moved into the kitchen or other area where visitors can see it. The prospect of being publicly shamed like this acts as a strong deterrent. This shame can be magnified by giving the chart a deliberately childish design- bright colours, nursery fonts, cartoon characters etc. And make sure the husband's name is displayed prominently at the top- "hubby's behaviour chart". More positively, have a 'rewards box' at the bottom of the chart, stating a clear target and reward for good behaviour. For example "My reward for getting 7 gold stars will be: Allowed to stay up until 10.00 on Saturday". If you save your design as a template on Word or Excel, you can easily print a fresh sheet each week and make amendments as needed. Thanks to mark j |
